Expedited Shipping
Expedited services apply to orders placed by customers who need them fulfilled as soon as possible. In order to fast-track the process, trucks carrying expedited goods have limited stops along the way to the destination. Typically, trucking companies offer this rapid service through use of a single truck with two drivers who work in shifts to decrease the transit time.
Shipping costs and delivery methods vary depending on the shipper’s fulfillment strategy, logistics, customer locations, margins and more. One seller’s standard shipping timeline might be the same as expedited for another.
The pace of expedited shipping depends on varying factors that include the customer’s desired timeline as well as time allotted for processing. For example, if it would usually take five days to receive your shipment, anything less than that would be considered expedited. However, while it varies depending on the company, the average expedited shipping time is between 2-3 days, saving a day or two when compared to standard shipping.
To help streamline delivery and ensure a fast experience, we recommend shippers work with a GCL representative to consider the following:
Rates. Expedited shipping rates can run higher than standard rates therefore GCL can ensure that you are being provided the best and most competitive rates for your shipment.
Online Tracking. Make sure the carrier you decide to use allows you to track your shipment. This way, you can follow your shipment in real time and proactively respond to issues that may arise in transit.
Shipping Options. Understanding your shipping needs and the provided options is imperativ. Will the shipment travel on one truck or two? Do you need full truckload shipping or only partial?
